Barney Snow (Elijah Wood - Lord of the Rings) is an amnesiac who can't recall much about himself. When he's not trying to revive the past with Dr Harriman (Janeane Garofalo), he spars with other patients in his hospital, including wheelchair-bound prankster Bill the Kidney and fast-fading cancer sufferer Mazzo (Joseph Perrino), whose twin sister, Cassie (Rachel Leigh Cook), takes a shine to Barney.
The intense, barely concealed emotions of these young inmates contrasts with the clinic's sterile, repressive environment as Barney struggles to regain his personal identity. A meticulously made film that raises haunting questions about the role of mind over matter in treating serious illness, this heartwarming coming-of-age story features fine performances from a gifted young cast.
