When six Californians get together to discuss the literary works of Jane Austen, they begin to discover that their own lives are starting to parallel Austen’s writings and that the heartaches of Emma, Mr Darcy and the Bennett sisters are not so different from their own. Finding wit, wisdom and comfort from the pages and each other, they soon realise that, as always in Austen, marriage, friendship, and finding one’s rightful place in the world are the things that really matter.
Based on the best-selling novel by Karen Joy Fowler and featuring an all-star ensemble cast, The Jane Austen Book Club is a delightful and refreshing romantic comedy that makes a great companion piece to films like Friends With Money and Bridget Jones’ Diary.
