A poignant coming of age story about a boy, a murderer and their town.

When Robert Drewe, aged six, moves with his family to Perth during a scalding hot 1950s summer, he has every reason to expect a life of playful adventure.

But an ominous darkness creeps in as he matures. Divisions between his parents and the shifting confidences of adolescence begin to take their toll. When a man he knows murders a boy, and continues to randomly kill several others, Robert's life is changed forever.

Based on Robert Drewe's acclaimed memoir, The Shark Net is a story of secrets and lies, fear and evil. A time of innocence and new experiences that is moving, funny and shocking.
