The taxman visits the idyllic rural Home Farm, and in his futile efforts to investigate Pa's (David Jason) income, he finds a way of life he thought could never exist, and more importantly discovers the Larkin's beautiful daughter, Mariette (Catherine Zeta Jones).

A dashing young stranger with a secret past arrives at Mariette's doorstep, however Cedric (Philip Franks) becomes suspicious and causes a rift.
