1989, 106 minutes, Rated M

A Rainbow - untouchable, ephemeral, but always beckoning. For Ursula Brangwen, a young girl on the brink of womanhood, the rainbow is a metaphor for all she strives towards; truth, the courage to lead her life without hypocrisy, the freedom to learn and not to settle for second best.

It is the turn of the century and Ursula leaves her home for college where she is to train as a teacher. During her studies she finds her passion ignited and her heart set afire when she is willingly seduced by an artist. At first it was an act of defiance against her bitter tutor Winifred then it became an overwhelming desire to be fiercely independent and free to experience all of the world's pleasures.
