1986, 89 minutes, Rated M

A down and out former Soviet boxing champion living in Brooklyn, Alek Neuman (Klaus Maria Brandauer), uncharacteristically visits an illegal boxing match and notices two of the fighters, Timmy Boyle (Adrian Pasdar) and Roland Jenkins (Wesley Snipes). After Alek gets into a drunken brawl with Roland and shows off his former prowess, Tommy asks if he could coach him. Alek agrees and a tough training regime begins. Roland is soon drawn to Alek's techniques and he too asks to be coached. When a match is scheduled between the Russian Team and the American Golden Gloves, Alek sees this as not only his chance to settle an old score against the coach who stopped him from competing in the Olympic games, but also to give his boys a chance they deserve.
