Ted, a stuffy white guy from Illinois works in sales for the Barcelona office of a US Company. He is just recovering from the latest in a series of bad relationships and decides to resolve this problem by only having girls who are plain or even homely.

However this resolve soon evaporates, when he meets the enchating Montserrat, who works as a translator at the trade show, in which Ted's company has sent him to attend.

Unfortunately, for Ted, Montserrat is in a relationship with a left wing journalist.

To make matters worse Teds cousin Fred has arrived in Barcelona, and decides to leach of his kind cousin Ted.
