Based on a true story, ESSEX BOYS traces the powerful forces unleashed when a group of second generation Essex villains struggle to control the UK's massive drugs trade - and the rewards can be rich for those who control the flow.
When Jason Locke (SEAN BEAN) is released from a five-year prison sentence he is angry, frustrated and suspicious. Urged on by his ambitious wife Lisa (ALEX KINGSTON) he makes a bid for control of a gang's distribution business. Through the eyes of Billy Reynolds (CHARLIE CREED-MILES) a young and at first willing conscript of Locke's, a deadly struggle unfolds. Locke stops at nothing and discards his loyal wife when she tries to interfere in his plans.
Billy has adopted a new circle of dangerous friends, including the enigmatic country gent John Dyke (TOM WILKINSON) and Locke sets up Billy for the horrific sex killing of a local teenage girl.
This story is inspired by a single true event. It left three men dead, two serving life imprisonment and another living under an assumed identity.
The rest if fiction, as are all the characters.
