After a night of partying, college freshman Cassie (Melissa Sagemiller) and her friends are involved in a horrific car accident that turns into a gripping tale of the supernatural. Overwhelmed by startling hallucinations, Cassie has the eerie feeling that her boyfriend Sean (Casey Affleck) is trying to reach out to her from beyond the grave. Her concerned friends Matt (Wes Bentley) and Annabel (Eliza Dushku), encourage Cassie to move on with her life and forget about Sean. As supernatural encounters with Sean become more real and an unearthly presence pursues her, Cassie's grip on reality slips further. Unsure of where to turn or who to trust, Cassie begins a desperate race against time to learn who her real friends are, who wants her dead, and who will be the Soul Survivor.
