How do I find what I am looking for?
With over 39,000 titles to choose from, relying on pot luck to find great DVDs is a bit like waiting to win the lottery! So here are some tips to help you find DVDs that you'll enjoy in our extensive library.
1. Using Recommendations
- Recommendations are driven by unique technology that builds an increasingly accurate profile of what you like to watch... The key is for you to rate the movies you've already seen, so that we know what you've enjoyed before. We'll use this information to predict how much you'll like other DVDs in our library – and recommend the top ones to you. Recommendations are therefore a great way of 'discovering' titles to add to your queue.
- We'll show you our Recommendations:
- On your Home page
- On Movie Detail pages
- By letting you know titles that other members chose after viewing the one you're considering
- As suggestions for similar titles, when you add a DVD to your queue
- In the Recommendations section of the site
2. Browsing genres and groupings
- Click the Browse button and you can start looking through our entire collection using the featured navigation buttons. They include Genres, New Releases, Coming Soon, BigPond Top 100, Actors, Directors and Award Winners. When you choose one of these, you'll get a list of titles sorted into the order that we think you'd rate them – with the most recommended first.
3. Searching for a specific title
- If you know exactly what you're looking for, just use the Search box near the top of any page to key in the name of the DVD, Actor or Director. You'll get a list of titles that closely match what you're after.
Still can't find what you're looking for?
- Try reviewing some of our PopLists.
- Have a look at what 'people like you' are watching in our Friends section.
- Rate more of the movies you've seen before, and see how that affects our recommendations for you.
